Byron High School Registration has been prepared for you in planning for your next year's school schedule. Review carefully the course requirements for graduation, your interests and future plans, then select courses that will contribute to the realization of those plans. Suggestions for Parents
- Encourage your child to take a balance of core academic courses and electives throughout their high school career. Colleges look strongly at rigorous core classes, however, it is also important for students to explore elective classes as this provides personal interest and career exploration. BALANCE is the key!
- Students should spread out math and science classes over their high school career to ensure knowledge retention for college entrance exams (ACT and SAT, ACCUPLACER).
- Students with strong GPA's and strong work ethic have many opportunities to earn college credit their Junior or Senior year.
- Be sure to review any noted prerequisites to any class.
- Foreign Language classes are best attempted when the student can maintain at least a “C” in English. In order to successfully continue foreign language, a student should maintain at least a “C” average. Note: 4 year colleges require 2 levels of the same foreign language. This is NOT a requirement for a BHS Diploma.
- If you have questions about a specific class or the appropriateness of a course for your student, please refer questions to the department chair for that class.
- Attend parent and student informational sessions for important updates and "next steps" for each grade level.
