Minnesota State College and University (MnSCU) two year and technical colleges require all new students take the Accuplacer exam before they are allowed to register for classes. Students must test at college level in order to take college classes. If test scores are below level, students must take remedial or developmental classes to improve their skills before they are allowed to complete college level work. High school students should take as rigorous coursework as they can manage to improve their skills and to avoid having to pay college tuition for remedial coursework. Students can retake the exam one additional time within six months to improve their score. Practice tests are available online. Download the free web based study app. https://accuplacer.collegeboard.org/students
NOTE: MnSCU colleges will accept ACT or MCA scores in lieu of Accuplacer if the student's scores meet the college requirement. Be sure to ask the college to review your test scores.
Wisconsin two year and technical colleges require students the Compass exam before they are allowed to register for college level classes.
