You can also consider "dip-sticking" for alternative conceptions by interspersing your slides with polls.  This helps you to figure out the next step of the instruction so that you are nearer the ZPD of your learners? 

"Dip-sticking" for understanding by inserting a quiz at timely intervals can also help you find out how near they are to grasping the concept.
