REFERRAL PROCESS
Counseling referrals may be received from students after talking to their classroom teacher directly as they are students first line of connection here at Foothill (green Let's Talk Form in grade 3-5 classrooms). Teachers in K-2 consult with Ms. B directly, and/or parents and guardians.
STUDENT REFERRALS
When Should I let the Counselor Know I need Support?
Rain (Small problem): Issue is minor (Ex: 1 time incident that is not serious, such as a disagreement with a friend)
Try using your TOOLS to solve this one on your own first
If problem continues, please talk to a trusted adult and/or counselor
Storm (Medium problem): Issue isn’t major (Ex: bubbling feelings, family concerns, and academic planning)
Talk to a trusted adult, teacher, and/or counselor
Tornado (BIG problem): The issue is URGENT (Ex: Death/sickness in the family,divorce/separation,bullying, and/or flooding big feelings)
Talk to a trusted adult, teacher, and/or counselor ASAP
