Boulder High School is proud to offer the Boulder Arts Focus Pathway (BAFP). This is an exciting program for students who have a passion for the visual and performing arts to earn an endorsement on their diploma. Students who graduate with honors in the arts do so by completing courses in the arts and making the arts an integral part of their lives through opportunities both in and outside of school. Colleges, universities, and employers will recognize the creative problem solving, innovative ideas, and collaboration of this select group of emerging student visual and performing artists. Students graduating with an Art Focus Endorsement will receive an honor cord prior to graduation. BAFP students who are graduating with distinction* will receive both a cord and pin.
Students may be endorsed in one of the following:
Music
Theater
Visual Arts
Renaissance
Requirements:
4 years of dedicated involvement in productions (at least one show a year)
Minimum of two semesters (10 credits) in any combination of the following courses with a cumulative grade of 3.0 or higher in the courses:
Theater 1 and Theater 2 OR Unified Theater
OR 2 semesters of Stagecraft
OR Video and Film 1/2 and Film Studies
OR 1 Year Video and Film Arts at Apex
Attendance at ThesCon (at least once)
Attendance at yearly theater meetings
With Distinction:
Distinction requires an additional 50 hours of involvement outside of school, in addition to 50 hours of in-school involvement through participation in the BHS theater program. Some outside opportunities are:
Attending BHS theater promotional events
Volunteering with local middle schools
Attending a show at another school or a professional performance
Summer opportunities: internships and summer camps
