Hero colors should serve as the main colors in our branding. Our color palette is inspired by the lush flora native to Latin America, as well as the vibrant colors used in consumer packaging. Balance our bright hero colors with more neutral shades from our secondary palette.

The Pero Like color palette can be broken down to two main modes: day and night. Day colors are ultra-saturated and bright, Night colors are moodier and have less contrast. Some of our brand assets have day / night modes, seen in the subtle pattern variations below.
Day assets are ideal for fun, humorous, and light-hearted content, and night applications are best for more serious use cases (emotional content, news, etc.).
Note: These palettes are a general guide for designing day/night modes. You may use colors from the other palette sparingly to create adequate contrast in designs.

Pero Like iconography is a nod to the soulful imagery common across Latin cultures. Illustrations should be humanistic, celebrate nature, and be a little surreal. Individual icons may be used as design elements, or combined as a pattern.
All illustrations align to a grid-based system, and are created in one of the following proportions: 1x1, 1x2, and 2x1. They should be non-symmetrical, single color with knocked-out details, and contain hand-drawn quirks.
Our brand patterns consist of the following core designs, listed below.
Grid Patterns
Grid patterns use our icons to create uniform blocks of pattern. They are high-contrast, and should be as the focal point of its design application (keeping other elements to a minimum).
Seamless Patterns
Seamless patterns use our icons to create unbroken, textural patterns. They are come in high- and low-contrast varieties, and may be used as both the focal point of design applications, or as a supporting element.
Seamless patterns come in day and night modes and often have a high-contrast design feature that can be used as a focal point, repeating element, or not at all (creating a textural pattern that recedes to the background).

Low Contrast Patterns
Low contrast patterns are designed to accommodate text and additional graphic elements overlaid on top. They also serve as alternatives for busier patterns in UI applications.
A collection of motion graphic templates are available in the BuzzFeed Post-Production Library.
