The word photography could be taken to mean ‘a graphic representation of light’. Photography has been used by professionals to record, document and present examples of everyday life, in ordinary and extraordinary circumstances. It is also used to convey personal identity through artistic expression and many different art forms. On this course students will learn how to use different camera settings and techniques in order to produce dynamic and thoughtful imagery through composition and technical elements.
Throughout this course students are encouraged to explore the world around them using a different 'view'. Not only do we teach the students the necessary camera and specialist skills, we also teach them to look differently at everything and everyone. Photography is not just about taking a 'nice picture'. It is a very specialist skill that we demonstrate to the students early on in the course. Once we have covered the basics, the students are able to explore and investigate different photographers as well as their own choices later on.
