As we come to the end of a fantastic Term 6, we want to take a moment to reflect on all the wonderful learning and creativity that has taken place in Year 1. This term, the children have amazed us with their artistic talents as they painted beautiful seascape pictures inspired by the style of Georges Seurat. Their use of colour and pointillism techniques really brought their seaside scenes to life! In science, we’ve been busy planting seeds and carrying out investigations to find out what plants need to grow and stay healthy. The children loved watching their plants change over time and were full of curiosity and questions as they observed the results of their experiments. Our geography lessons took us on a journey of discovery as we learnt about maps and how to use keys to identify important features. The children then used their new skills to design and create their very own maps – complete with symbols and labels! One of the highlights of the term was taking part in the whole-school Sky Arts Week. It was a wonderful celebration of creativity and imagination. The children enjoyed writing poetry, exploring mark making, and expressing themselves through drama. Their enthusiasm and ideas were truly inspiring. In music, we brought a touch of the seaside into our lessons by learning and singing sea shanties. The children loved getting into character and performing with great energy – it was lots of fun! As the term draws to a close, we are so proud of how far the children have come. It has been a joy to watch them grow in confidence, independence, and creativity as they get ready for the next exciting step into Year 2. We wish all our children and their families a restful, safe, and enjoyable summer break. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year.
