These are resources you may want to use in your classroom for the first week or two of school, but are not required. It has a lot of lessons on things like morning routine, how to greet others, classroom expectations, and their environment which are longer than typical Morning Meeting lessons so there is no way to use it all. Pick and choose what works for you and your classroom in addition to week 1 lessons or just go right to the week 1 lessons. Click HERE for lesson demos for training if you need.
Week 1 | Introduction of Habits 1-4 (M1 L1-4)
Learners will be able to describe Habits 1−4 and how they support learning, personal development, and a positive classroom culture.
Week 2 | Introduction of Habits 1-4 (M2 L5-8)
Learners will be able to describe Habits 5–8 and how they will support learning, personal development, and a positive classroom culture.
Week 3 | Paradigms and Principles (M3 L9-12)
Learners will be able to describe paradigms and principles and why these concepts will help them lead themselves and others.
Week 4 | Habit 1- Be Proactive, Perseverance (M4 L13-16)
Learners will be able to define and practice using a growth mindset and perseverance.
Week 5 | Habit 1- Be Proactive, Recognizing Emotions (M6 L21-24)
Learners will be able to notice and name emotional intensity and describe how to respond proactively to big emotions.
Week 6 | Habit 1- Be Proactive, Regulating My Emotions (M7 L25-28)
Learners will be able to use The Pause Plan to notice, name, and think about emotions and will practice applying self-regulation strategies.
Week 7 | Habit 1- Be Proactive, Circle of Control (M8 L29-32)
Learners will be able to describe the Circle of Control/Circle of No Control concept and will focus on their Circle of Control to improve aspects of their leadership, the class, and their community.
Week 8 | Habit 2- Begin with the End in Mind, Defining Expectations (M9 L33-36)
Learners will be able to Begin With the End in Mind and define expectations for all members of their team to reach a learning objective.
Learners will be able to explore their values using a Mission Statement Builder and will create a final draft of their personal mission statement.
Learners will be able to describe ways they lived their personal mission statement in the past and plan for ways to apply their personal mission statement to challenges in the future.
Week 11 | Habit 1- Be Proactive, Staying True in the Moment of Choice (M14 L53-56)
Students will be able to describe ways to Put First Things First, including asking for help, responding to peer pressure with integrity, and staying true in the moment of choice.
Week 12 | Habit 2- Begin With The End in Mind, Accountability Partners (M17 L65-68)
Learners will be able to explain the qualities of a good Accountability Partner and will practice positive Accountability Partner behaviors.
Week 13 | Habit 3- Put First Things First, Time Matrix (M12 L45-48)
Learners will be able to identify tasks that fall in each of the four quadrants and plan how to spend more time in Quadrant 2.
Week 14 | Habit 3- Put First Things First, Planning Every Week (M13 L49-52)
Learners will be able to prioritize Big Rocks and use a weekly planning tool to create a plan for how they will accomplish their priorities in and out of school.
Week 15 | The 4 Disciplines of Execution, Learning About Goal Achievement (M15 L57-60)
Learners will be able to identify The 4 Disciplines of Execution in a model goal and will be able to teach the disciplines back to a partner.
Week 16 | The 4 Disciplines of Execution, Achieving My Goals (M16 L61-64)
Learners will be able to apply The 4 Disciplines of Execution to achieve a Wildly Important Goal (WIG).
Week 17 | Trust and Emotional Bank Accounts, Emotional Bank Accounts (EBA) (M18 L69-72)
Learners will be able to describe different ways to make deposits into Emotional Bank Accounts and will practice calling out the gold in their classmates.
Week 18 | Trust and Emotional Bank Accounts, Building Relationship Trust (M19 L73-76)
Learners will be able to identify behaviors that build trust and will develop trust action steps.
Week 19 | Trust and Emotional Bank Accounts, Extending Trust (M20 L77-80)
Learners will be able to define character and competence and will plan for ways to extend trust to others and ask others to extend trust to them.
Week 20 | Habit 4- Thinking Win-Win (M21 L81-84)
Leaders will be able to apply win-win thinking to resolve conflicts and create a win-win environment.
Week 21 | Habit 4- Thinking Win-Win, Showing Consideration (M22 L85-88)
Learners will be able to describe ways to demonstrate consideration in social settings and the classroom environment.
Learners will be able to define bullying, design proactive responses to bullying, and describe the value of having the courage to stand up for others.
Learners will be able to describe the connection between empathy and understanding others and will practice empathic responses to others.
Learners will be able to differentiate between empathic and autobiographical listening and will practice listening with their eyes, ears, body, and heart.
Learners will be able to communicate respectfully through “I” messages.
Week 26 | Habit 6- Synergize, Synergizing With Others (M27 L105-108)
Learners will be able to practice synergy by involving others, optimizing strengths, and learning how to apply leadership to collaborative learning opportunities.
Week 27 | Habit 6- Synergize, Celebrating Differences (M28 L109-112)
Learners will be able to celebrate differences and will create a classroom environment where differences are celebrated.
Week 28 | Habit 6- Synergize, Finding 3rd Alternatives (M29 L113-116)
Learners will be able to generate creative and imaginative options for a 3rd Alternative and will describe how gathering ideas from others invites Synergy.
Week 29 | More Ways to Lead, Global Awareness (TE 150-153)
Contains ideas, group activities, projects, and differentiation options, including a global look at table manners & Literature Connection.*
