Completion of Homework and Deadlines – Satchel One
Parents can monitor the homework that their children are given through the Satchel: One app. Please visit the school website for further details or contact your child’s Head of House for further details (Satchel: One). You will receive a letter containing your login information in September. Show My Homework has recently been renamed as Satchel:One. Reference to both names is used in school.
I should like to remind you of our policy concerning homework;
If there is good reason why a deadline has been missed, such as illness/emergency at home etc. you will need to inform us in writing and this should be handed in instead of the work, and preferably before or at the time when the work should have been handed in to the teacher.
If students do not complete homework then they will be required to complete a detention. (See Code of Conduct page). All students, regardless of which year they are in, will undertake their after-school detention and must bring work from the relevant subject to complete during the detention.
Students who hand in work which is significantly below the standard expected of them individually may be asked to complete the work again.
Whilst we promote collaboration between students to develop their learning and understanding, this is different from plagiarism.
Clear plagiarism will not be tolerated. Where plagiarism occurs around controlled assessment work students will put the award of a grade in that and all other subjects at risk. Students and parents need to be aware that examination boards have sophisticated plagiarism software that detect cases within coursework. Any student who plagiarises coursework could put the examination results in all of their subjects at risk. Plagiarism for internal examinations will be treated as seriously as that for external examinations.
Coursework and other deadlines must be treated as final deadlines and are not negotiable except in extreme situations. If there are circumstances that prevent students from meeting deadlines they must communicate with the teacher setting the work as soon as this is known (see above).
