Hey bears! I’m Andrea Perez, a proud senior at Burroughs High School. I’m t involved in Link Crew, Advanced Culinary Arts, and the art program, allowing me to actively contribute to my community and support my peers. My sights and heart are set on the University of the Pacific, where I plan to major in Hospitality and Nanagement with the goal of running my own culinary business. Additionally, I’m exploring opportunities at UCLA, Occidental, Williams College, and the University of Chicago. Hi! My name is Olivia Black, and I’m a Junior at JBHS. This is my first year as a College Peer Mentor, and I’m very excited to help guide students through their application process while assisting my fellow juniors in exploring their future goals. I’m also a member of the cheer team, an anchor and liaison for GMJB, and I LOVE Sprite. Currently, I hope to attend a four-year university to study Marketing or Business. 

Hi! My name is Saida and I am one of your CPM mentors this year! Besides CPM I am also a member of our cross country, track, and soccer teams. I am a junior right now, but next year I am thinking about applying to Cal Poly SLO, UC Santa Cruz, and Bowdoin. I’d like to major in biology or something else in the STEM field. Outside of school I like to listen to music and watch movies. I am looking forward to helping you all this year!

Hello everyone! My name is Matthew Ilasin and I’m one of your CPM mentors for this year. Here at school I was previously on the XC team , and I plan to continue to run for the track team here at Burroughs. My dream school after graduation is UC Irvine. I’m still a junior so I plan to apply to UCI, UCLA, USC, and the University of Toronto. I would like to major in mechanical engineering or statistical science. Outside of school I like to go to cafes, drink matcha, read feminine literature, go for long walks on the beach, and I occasionally play valorant.

Hi everyone! My name is Hashley Perez and I play the violin in our school’s orchestra. My dream school for the longest time ever is UCLA. But, I’m going to apply to UCLA, UC Irvine, USC, and Cal State LA. Honestly, I’m not really sure what I want to major in, but I want it to be music or business related. In my free time, I love to play on my PS5, draw, or listen to music. I can’t wait to meet you guys! Let’s have a great year together!

Hey, mentees! I’m the Sports Producer and anchor for Good Morning John Burroughs, as well as president of JBHS’s Teen Court Chapter and on CLA Cabinet; outside of the classroom, I have done cross country and track and field, I work as a legal intern, and serve as a delegate representing Burbank for our Sister Cities in Japan and Korea. My dream school is UCLA, but my biggest reach would be Vanderbilt, a beautiful campus in the heart of the Volunteer State. I am applying to many more colleges, including CSULB, Bama, UCR, WashU, and Occidental; I would love to major in political science to become an attorney. I also volunteer for the YMCA and AYSO, garden with my mom, woodwork, bike, hike, lift weights, read Tolkien, and study geography.

After high school, I hope to attend a four year university to study a science major on the pre-med track. Outside of school, I am a competitive figure skater and in my free time, I love to be outdoors. Hello, my name is Jack Szaras. I am a current senior and I participate in Varsity Boys Volleyball here at Burroughs, as well as JSA. My dream school would be the University of British Columbia and I am applying to all of the UC’s, a few Cal States such as Cal Poly SLO, CSULB, SDSU, as well as some colleges out of state including the University of British Columbia, Syracuse, Colorado State, CU Boulder, Tulane, UConn, UMass, and University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. I am interested in Journalism/English, sports psychology, or marine biology as my potential majors, but as of right now, I am still undecided. Outside of school, I play lots of volleyball, listen to music, play video games, watch Kdramas, and hang out with my friends.

Hi, my name is Lexi Palomino! Besides CPM, I am in the school’s choir, Powerhouse, and am part of a few clubs like the Environmental Cleanup Club which I am Vice President of. My dream school would be UC Berkeley or UCLA, and I am applying to more 4-year universities that are in California, like most of the UC’s, USC, and some Cal States like San Diego State. My potential major is architecture or architectural engineering, although I am still exploring my options. After high school, I plan on attending a 4-year university and then continuing my education further in order to pursue a sustainable, successful career! 

What’s up, Class of ‘26?! My name is Rhianne, and besides CPM, I’m a part of Link Crew, Tech, and president of both Key Club and Asian Youth. My dream schools are USC and UCSD. I’m planning to apply to CSULB, Penn State, Chapman, UCI, and UCSD. For my potential major, I’m between Public Relations and Cinematography and Video Production. Outside of Burroughs, I love doing photography, especially portraits and street photography, and playing guitar!!!

My name is Samantha Lopez, I’m a junior here at John Burroughs High School. I’m a pretty easy outgoing person and once you get to know me, you’ll find that you can be comfortable with me. Some extracurricular activities I’m in besides being a CPM at school are flag football team, mentor for one of my favorite teacher Ms. Russon, Medical NAF Academy, student NAF board and the toy story club that fundraises money to provide children with toys. Post high school my dream school is UPenn for Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. But my other choices are Santa Monica or Mt. SAC then transfer, University of California San Francisco, Duke University, San Diego State University and Arizona State University. 

Hi, my name is Natalie! Outside of being a college peer mentor, I’m involved in dance team and serve as the co-president of the club Lend-a-Paw. My dream schools are San Diego State University and UC Davis, though I plan to apply to many UCs and Cal States. I hope to pursue a major in Animal Science, as I’m passionate about working with animals. To me, life beyond high school means being surrounded by different kinds of animals and continuing to expand my knowledge and experience with them.

Hi my name is Max Mushallo, I'm a senior here at JBHS and this is my first year as a CPM. I am originally from Washington state and love to talk about Seattle sports, (Seahawks winning the bowl this year, also bringing back the sonics).I love to golf and cook, I'm also an actor outside of school. I am interested in pursuing forensic science as my major and criminology as my minor. I wish to apply to some UC’s and some CSU's. My dream out of state school is university of washington, in state is UC Davis/SDSU. I wish to learn as much as I can about the college process in order to help all of you. I also have extensive knowledge about the military so if anybody has questions about the military and different routes and the branches don't be afraid to ask.

Hi, my name is Lauren Munguia and I’m delighted to be one of your college mentors for the year! I was in choir for three years and now I’m a member of Environmental Cleanup Club. My dream school is UCLA, but of course I’m applying to other schools like UC Irvine, UC San Diego, UC San Francisco, UC Berkeley, and California Polytechnic State University. I plan to major in Biology or Neuroscience to become a Psychiatrist. 

Hi my name is Aiden Francoeur and I am both a Senior and College Peer Mentor at JBHS. There are several schools that I might consider my “dream school”, although particularly I am interested in several of the UC campuses, like for example  UC Santa Cruz because of the lush campus, the surrounding city, and the social culture there. I would like to apply to several schools throughout the West Coast, like UC Santa Cruz, University of Oregon, University of Washington, along with all of the UCs and CSUs through their respective applications. I would like to potentially major in Historic Preservation because of my love for both domestic and international history, along with places like museums and archives due to their rich catalogue of historical artifacts.Outside High School, I love to visit museums in the surrounding Los Angeles area such as the Gene Autry Museum, The Museum of Motion Pictures, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and more. Although I have no interest in pursuing it as a career, I love music and playing guitar during my free time.

One of my dream schools is Pitt (University of Pittsburgh) ,I also plan on applying to a few UCs I plan on majoring in Biological sciences or Biomedical Sciences (pre-medical track).Outside of High School I like to read, bake and cook,as well as listen to music. Hello Mentees! My name is Nicola Nasev and I am a senior at JBHS. I play waterpolo at our school and I am apart of the Rose Bowl waterpolo Club as well. My dream school is Cal Poly SLO to major in Environmental Engineering. I am also applying to all the UC’s, Occidental, Cal State Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona, and other Cal States. I play a lot of water polo outside of school and do a lot of homework. I also love hanging out with my friends and my 3 legged dog Max. 

Hello! My name is Eddie Manjarrez. Outside of CPM. I am involved in Football on top of throwing shotput and discus. In the future, I would be proud to attend SDSU or USC. To start off my college journey, I am going to attend either PCC or GCC to further develop my skills. When I reach college I intend to major in journalism. Outside of school, I enjoy going to the movies, hanging out with friends, and listening to music. 

Hello Mentees! My name is Aaron Sotolongo. I am a senior here at JBHS. I’ve played water polo for three years and also lifeguard for the city. My dream school is UCLA, and I am applying to 7 schools! I will apply to UCI, UCSB, UCLA, Cal Poly SLO, Cal State LB, SDSU, and UCSD. I plan on becoming a Business Administration major, but I am open to other options under Business. I love snowboarding, playing sports, and spending time with friends and family outside of school! I am excited to help other students and learn more about the college process

Besides being a college peer mentor I am a member of ASB, helping with various school events and I’m president of Environmental Cleanup Club, where we pick up trash at various different locations. Outside of school, I like to paint, draw, hike, and hang out with my friends! My dream school is UCSD and UC Berkeley but I am also applying to UCLA, UC Irvine, UCSB, and some schools out of state. I plan to major in sociology because I plan to be a social worker.
