The JBHS counselors show us important websites, slideshows, and step-by-step tutorials regarding how to complete each college application, how to complete FAFSA, and more, so that we can explain the processes to you! We must get 100% on a mentor test for certification; therefore, you can trust us with your college and future needs.
Mr. Kuglen, CPM Teacher
Welcome JBHS students, Parents and Faculty,
Now in our sixth year (and growing), College Peer Mentors grew out of an idea that students can help students when facing the daunting task of planning for college and life after high school. Who better to ask for help than a peer who is going through the same challenges as you are? Our amazing College Peer Mentors go through lots of training to learn the ins and outs – and secrets – of the college admissions process. With the help of the JBHS Counseling Office and the College and Career Center, each mentor knows where to look for answers: how to fill out applications for different types of post-secondary options, how to ask for letters of recommendation, the basics of writing fantastic admissions essays, how to plan your high school classes to help you get into the school you want, and in which direction to point you as you begin to navigate these life-changing choices.
This website is a special way to begin your preparation for applying to college. Your mentors are ready to help you whenever you are ready to begin a discussion, Whether you are a 12th grade student who wants to get into Cal State Northridge, try your hand at LA Trade Tech for certification in automobile repairs, or you’re a 9th grade student who is just beginning to think about what choices you might make to get you into the college of your dreams.
This amazing resource was created and is updated by the College Peer Mentors.
Enjoy!
