Assessing Learners' Academic Progress in Basic Education (ALAPBE)
Assessing Learners' Academic Progress in Basic Education (ALAPBE)
Rationale
The Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) program aims to provide students with the general education to appreciate human ideas and values and develop critical thinking through various activities. Furthermore, to train the pre-service teachers to efficiently deliver instruction by providing activities that would develop their skills in teaching and leadership. Introduce them to activities that promote the growth and development of the community, like research and extension programs. It shows the trifocal functions of the University, namely, instruction, research, and extension. In the same thread, the 1987 Phillippe constitution section 1 states that "The State shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all".
Objectives
In pursuits of complying with the vision and mission of the University, and in dispensing our obligation as public servants, we would like to believe that it’s everyone's right to achieve quality education regardless of race, disability, and socioeconomic status. The BEED program would like to promote the idea of education reform initiated by President George W. Bush (2001), known as the "No Child Left Behind. Furthermore, the department wishes to generate a research proposal that has something to do with the assessment of learners learning gaps in the essential discipline. Ideally, the output of the said research will automatically become the extension project of the department. Therefore, the program generally focuses on Assessing Learners' Academic Progress in Basic Education with respect to reading, writing, arithmetic, and right conduct.
The extension unit of the program anticipated whatever needs, problems, or any academic-related issues of the learners in basic education. The faculty and the students of the unit will work hand in hand to create and use appropriate instructional materials, plans, and activities and select methods and strategies that better facilitate the teaching and learning process appropriate to the grade level and capability of the learners. After the program, we are expecting that we will be creating a child who is a self-reliant, independent, self-directed, and responsible citizen.
