In Google Calendar, there are five types of events you can create:
Event - Typically the most utilized option. Use this to schedule single events or recurring events. Add guests, Google Meet, descriptions, attachments, locations, and meeting notes agendas
Focus Time - Use focus time to reduce distractions while you work. This is only available for work or school accounts. This has the option to repeat if needed.
Out of Office - Shows your availability for when you are in the office and when you are not. You have the option to automatically decline new meetings in this setting.
Task - This is a virtual to-do list. These only appear for you and not for any others with access to your calendar.
Appointment Schedule - Allows you to schedule meeting slots for others to sign up for. Appointments must be a minimum of 15 minutes long.
To create a new event in Google Calendar:
There are a few ways you can do this:
Click on the day and time in the calendar grid where you want the event to start.
Click the Create button
A new event window will appear, allowing you to enter the details for the event.
Enter the event name, location, and description (optional) in the appropriate fields.
Choose the start and end time for the event by using the drop-down menus or by dragging the event to the desired length in the calendar grid.
Set a reminder for the event, if desired, by clicking on the "Reminders" section and selecting the type of reminder you want to set.
Set the event as busy, free, or tentative by using the "Event color" section.
If you want to invite others to the event, click on the "Guests" section and enter the email addresses of the people you want to invite.
If you want to repeat the event, click on the "Does not repeat" option and select the repeat pattern you want to use.
When you're finished, click the "Save" button to create the event.
The event will now be displayed on your calendar and, if you invited others, they will receive an email invitation to the event. You can edit or delete the event at any time by clicking on the event and selecting the appropriate option.
Google Meet is fully integrated with Google Calendar, which makes scheduling and joining meetings easy. Here are the steps to integrate Google Meet with Google Calendar:
Click on the + Create sign in the upper-left corner to create a new event.
In the new event window, enter the event details, including the event name, date, and time.
In the add guests section, enter the email addresses of the people you want to invite to the meeting.
In the add conferencing section, click on the Add Google Meet video conferencing option.
Click Save to save the event and send invitations to the attendees.
When the event starts, you can join the meeting by clicking on the event in your calendar and selecting the Join with Google Meet link. Participants will also receive an email with a link to join the meeting. If you need to reschedule the event, you can simply drag and drop the event to a new date and time, and the Google Meet link will automatically update.
You can create a calendar event from a Gmail message using the following steps:
On your computer, go to Gmail.
Open the message.
At the top, click More -> Create event.
Google Calendar creates an event, copying the Gmail message title and text.
Google Calendar automatically invites people related to the Gmail message.
To invite more people, on the right under "Guests," enter an email address.
You can change the event time, date, and location.
When you're done, click Save.
Important: Event settings, like guest permissions, aren't transferred over when you create an event from Gmail.
