Learning Intention

To work cooperatively in a small team to research a type of mining strategy, summarise and report back to the class. I will learn about other types of mining from listening to other groups.

I can summarise and present information in a small team and obtain information from other groups about mining techniques.

Types of Mining Jigsaw Activity

- Divide the class into ‘Home Groups’  for each of the  five different types of mining described (4-6 students depending on class size)

1. Open Cut mining

2. Strip-mining

3.  Dredge mining

4. Underground mining

5. Insitu leaching (solution) mining

You will work in a small group (4-5 students) and be given one of the types of mining to research. You are to provide a summary and report back to the class via Google slides. The class will take down a summary of each mining type in the handout provided.
