This video explains what cells are, what their role and function is in sustaining life
Card sort and match the definitions for unicellular and multi-cellular organisms
Toggle between Animal and Plant Cell to view what each organelle looks like and what its role and function is inside the cell.

Match and sort the cell organelles to their role and function game
Cells Alive has a good cell animation to assist with this workshop. Toggle between plant and animal cells
Use the same colour for the same organelles to be able to compare and contrast plant and animal cells. Note that animal cells contain vacuoles but they are much smaller than the vacuoles found in plant cells. Animal cells do not contain chloroplasts or a cell wall.
Suggested colours Cell membrane (very pale yellow or leave blank), Endoplasmic Reticulum (dark yellow), Nucleus (blue and the Nucleolus centre dark blue), Ribosomes (brown), Cytosol (pale pink), Mitachondria (orange and red squiggly line), Lysosomes (light brown), Golgi Apparatus (dark pink), Centrosomes (pale orange),
Chloroplasts (dark green), Vacuole (lavender) and Cell Wall (fluro green)
Colour in the sheet using the suggested colour scheme in your booklet and compare the similarities and differences between plant and animals cells
Compare and contrast animal cells to plant cells with this Venn diagram. Which organelles are found in both cell types?
