Screencast-o-matic is a user-friendly screen recording software. There are two versions, the free version, available to all, and the professional version.
To record videos less than 15 minutes in length, you will be able to use the free version of the Screencast-O-Matic tool (downloading instructions are in the next section). If you need to make a video longer than 15 minutes, the Pro version of the tool will need to be installed on your computer. Contact Jawad Qudus (jawad.qudus@bryanhealth.org) to initiate this request your computer. Each license is valid for one computer only (therefore, it will be linked to your computer, not your username). We have only a limited number of licenses, so please only have the software installed on the computer you will use for recording and if you know you will be making longer videos.
You will also need a microphone to record your voice. The microphone in your computer, webcam, or headset (earbuds/earphones with a microphone) will work as long as you are in a quiet room. If you need to borrow a higher quality microphone, please contact the Distance Education office.
Note: The free version can only be used to create videos less than 15 minutes in length. Also, the instructions below and photos may not be exact (colors and placement) so use them as a guide but be aware that your screen may not look exactly as pictured. However, the labels "should" remain the same.
