BELL RINGER: 5 A Day
CLASS: We are going to finish Act 1 by reading it individually or in small groups. In this scene, the residents of the Annex celebrate Hanukkah and Anne does her best to make everyone little gifts out of the things she finds around the Annex. Watch this video for a little info on Hanukkah if you want more information.
AFTER READING: Finish your summary of Scene 5 and get it checked by me. If you finish early, answer the following questions on the back of your summary sheet and get it checked by Ms. Hall.
Why is Mr. Dussel behaving differently than the group? What can we assume from his actions?
Anne’s father tells her, “There are…no locks anyone can put on your mind.” How does Anne prove that this is true?
What example of dramatic irony can be found in Act I?
TAKE ACT 1 QUIZ WHEN DONE
HOMEWORK: Finish reading and summary if you did not finish in class!
