Nov. 11 - Pre-Audition Information
I am getting a lot of questions about auditions tomorrow and Wednesday. Here is the information we discussed in class.
- Report to Mrs. Tarleton's Music classroom after the walker bell.
- We will take students in the order in which they signed up. I will copy a list to hang outside the chorus room and you can check the list in the BJH lobby.
- Some of you will have a long wait. Bring something to do and a snack. Some students are choosing to go home and come back. If you miss your time, we will take you at the end.
-Your initial audition time is not correct. We have compressed times from 5 minutes to 3 minutes to get everyone in!
- When your audition is over, you should plan to go home. Nothing else will be done until the call-back list is posted Thursday morning. If you are on the call-back list, you will need to stay after school Thursday to read for parts. If you are not on the call-back list, we have already placed you in a part.
- You will fill out an information form while you are waiting telling us what part(s) you are interested in as well as any experience you may have.
-Be ready when you are called. Come in with confidence. If you make a mistake, start again or push through it. We are looking for character traits overall. You can sing a capella. I can play a track for you. I can accompany you. You can sing with your phone. You cannot sing with a track that has the vocal line on it.
-We understand if you have a cold, sore throat, voice crack..... do your best. Again, we are looking for character traits.
Good luck everyone!

MUSICAL TIMELINE:
Week of Oct 28 - Sign-up sheets posted in the BJH lobby on the glass staircase wall.
- If you want to be a lead, sign up for an audition time
- If you want to be part of the ensemble, sign up for ensemble. No audition necessary.
- No tech signups at this time!
Nov. 12 & 13 - Auditions for leads in the chorus room. 2:45 - 4:00 (or when the last audition is completed.)
Each audition will last about 5 minutes. Students need to prepare an excerpt to sing that is about 45 seconds- 1 minutes long. Accompniment tracks are fine. Mrs. Tarleton can accompany you. You may sing acapella. You may not sing with a track that has the same vocal you are singing. Students will meet in C-20, Mrs. Tarleton's Music classroom, where they will fill out an audition form that will let us know what character(s) they are most interested in and their experience. They will wait here until called for their audition. Bring a snack, some water and something to do while you wait.
When you are called, you will come into the chorus room where Mrs. Tarleton and Mrs. Bosarge will be. You will sing first. After you sing, Mrs. Bosarge will ask you to perform a simple acting improvisation. We are looking for character traits! When you audition, we need to see the character you are portraying!
Nov. 14 - Call-backs. 2:45-4:00ish in the chorus room. (Some students may be released earlier than others during this process)
Some students will be called back to read for specific parts. All students will be together for this audition. We will not ask students to sing. Students will be assigned characters for chosen scenes and will act out those scenes in multiple groupings. If you are not called back, that does not mean you do not have a part! Sometimes we place you in a role immediately and we do not need to call you back! There is a possibility that there will be some double-casting of roles in this year's show.
Nov. 15 - Cast list will be posted. The first schedule will be posted. All schedules will be posted in 2 week increments in Google Classroom. Code: 4eljeqw Students assigned leads can pick up scripts from Mrs. Bosarge. Take the weekend to higlight your parts.
Nov. 18 - First rehearsal for those called.
Nov. 19 - FULL CAST VOCAL REHEARSAL 2:45-3:30 in the Coffin Performance Space. Young Annas and Young Elsas plan to stay until 4:00.
