• • Band is open to all 6th-8th grade students at BJH.  Students who have not played before are able to start off in our beginning band program and are moved to an ensemble when they are ready.

  • The three BJH Bands are graded classes that meet during the school day.  

  • Band class meets every-other-day.

  • All students can participate in BOTH Band and Chorus!  

  • The Athletic and Music Departments work to limit conflicts between sports and music. You can participate in both! About 85% of the BJH Band and are part of a school athletic team

  • The BJH Bands perform several evening concerts during the year. The bands also march in the “Halloween Parade” and the Memorial Day Parade. Attendance at all performances is expected. A performance calendar is available on the calendar page and hard copies are in the document holder outside the band room.

  • Concert attire is “concert black”: black from “neck to toes”. (See "BJH Music Concert Attire" page for more info). Our Marching uniform is the BJH Band polo and black pants. 

  • As the parent/guardian of a Junior High Band student, you are a “Music Booster”! The BJH Music Boosters provide support for the music department through several fundraisers, providing chaperones, etc.  We welcome your active participation in this organization!
