There are always many opportunities to get involved and support your child’s music education at Ralston. Some examples include:
Music Boosters continues to grow and evolve. You will learn more about the Ralston Music program, and learn more about how to get involved. Feel free to contact Harlan Suits, the Music Boosters Chair for the upcoming school year. You may also see the Music Boosters website.
Do you need help getting a few more minutes of practice each week? Would you like to practice with friends? Would you like help from an older student? Are you an older student who would like to help out a 6th grader? Do you have a playing test you need to pass? Want to find some new fun music to play?
COME TO Wednesday Mentors!
Ms. Webster or Mr. Thielen will make the Band Room available every Wednesday during snack for students to come and get some extra practice or help on their instruments.
Wednesday Mentor time is for serious practice only. Students who misuse the space by making unnecessarily loud noises, messing around or disrupting others will lose music room privileges.
Private lessons are not required but always recommended. Weekly lessons can help out a student who is struggling, inspire a student who’s looking for more advanced music, and provide great motivation (and new music) for students at all levels. Plus, the lesson time and the time spent practicing for the lessons count as minutes for your practice record. You may consider “shopping around” for a teacher who is a good fit in terms of schedule, money and personality. I might be able to help point you in the right direction or you can check out the list of available teachers at Clocktower Music and other local music stores. Carlmont has also provided a list of local private teachers.
