Band Instrument Accessories: All band students must have an ID tag on their instrument case!
- Flutes: swab and cleaning rod
- Oboe: 2 functioning reeds, swab
- Bassoon: 2 functioning reeds, swab, seat strap
- Clarinet: swab, cork grease and at least 3 good reeds*
- Saxophones: neck strap, swab, cork grease, and at least 3 good reeds*
- Trumpet/baritone/tuba: Valve oil and slide grease
- Horn: rotor oil, replacement rotor string, tuning slide grease
- Trombone: Slide cream, little spray bottle of water, tuning slide grease
- Percussion:
- Drum stick carrying case
- General drum stick (Vic Firth – SD1 (bigger hands) OR Vic Firth – 5A (smaller hands)
- Timpani Mallets (Saul Goodman #2)
- Hard Plastic Bell/Xylophone (Vic Firth M6)
- Yarn Mallets
- *Reeds: For 6th graders, I recommend Rico Royals (2-2.5) and for more advanced players, I recommend Vandorens 2.5 or 3.

String Accessories: All orchestra students must have an ID tag on their instrument case! Make sure your musician is playing the correct size instrument. Please check with Ms. Webster, Mr. Thielen, or a music store to see that the instrument is the appropriate size
- Violin/Viola:
- Rosin
- Complete set of replacement strings*
- Shoulder rest, like a Kun
- An ID tag for your instrument case
- A cloth to wipe the excess rosin from your strings
- Cello/Bass:
- Rosin-- either carry back and forth or provide two sets (one for home, one for school)
- Rock stop
- Replacement A and D string (cellists only)
Bass players will need to get bass rosin-- either “Pop’s” Bass Rosin or Kolstein
- *Examples of good string brands are Prelude or Helicore for beginners and Dominant (violin/viola) or Larsen (cello) for intermediate students. Please also consult your private teacher if you have one.
