The Socials offer a low-stakes environment for people to socialize and get to know each other before committing to a more formal pairing by the Faculty Development Office.

Faculty who avail themselves of an external-to-department mentor early in their careers have found it to be useful for:

• Having an external sounding-board about university operations or department culture

• Transitioning into a tenure track or other long-term faculty appointment

• Perspectives on navigating power dynamics

• Discussing matters of work/life balance

Early career full time faculty in years 2-4 of their appointment interested in participating should complete the mentee survey and meet with Esther Jones, Associate Dean for Faculty Development no later than Friday, October 3.

Faculty at the rank of Associate or Full who are interested in serving as a mentor should complete the mentor survey and meet with Esther Jones, Associate Dean for Faculty Development no later than Friday, October 17.
