Successful academics know that building a mentorship network that is tailored to each stage of your career significantly enhances scholarly productivity, achievement, and work life satisfaction. Come grow your mentorship network beyond your department at one of two March Mentorship Mingles for faculty in Arts, Humanities, and Humanistic Social Sciences..
Who are these socials for?
These specially curated social hours are ideal for early career faculty in years 1-4 of your full time faculty appointment, and later-career faculty who are interested in mentoring earlier-career peers. The Mingles offer a low-stakes environment for people to socialize and get to know each other before committing to a more formal pairing by the Faculty Development Office.
Faculty who avail themselves of an external-to-department mentor early in their careers have found it to be useful for:
Having an external sounding-board about university operations or department culture
Transitioning into a tenure track or other long-term faculty appointment
Perspectives on navigating power dynamics
Discussing matters of work/life balance
