The legacy of Matpat

Mat started his channel Game Theory on YouTube on Apr 14, 2011. Mat would start to make his first video, which would get 1.2 million views on the site. Due to the video being an instant hit, he would continue to make videos.

The Matpat Of The Past

Matpat started to get popular on YouTube, and to commemorate him getting a million subscribers on YouTube, he decided to make a video celebrating 1 million. After celebrating one million subscribers, he would decide to hire people to help. 

This is how he met his wife, Stephanie. After meeting Stephanie, he would make a video commemorating the hiring of his lovely staff. He would continue to make videos. 

On July 9, 2018, Stephanie gave birth to Oliver Patrick, which would bring a new light to Matthew's life. Matthew started a new channel called Food Theory which would consist of them mainly talking about all different kinds of food groups. They would even sometimes cook in the kitchen. 

But one day, MatPat decided to make a theory on GrubHub about the Lore in the ads, Coming to the conclusion that GrubHub's ads take place in Jimmy Neutrons universe. this Theory video got 3.5 million views after 3 days of being up on YouTube.

The Legacy Of Today 

Matpat would create the channel Film Theory, and is the third theory Channel out of the bunch. He would cover movies and other pieces of media online. After a while, it would be the fifth birthday of their beloved child. 

To commemorate that, they made a video on Game Theory Live. Viewers had a video experience to ask questions to the family, which Built a further bond between fans and the theory channels.

A couple of years after Matpat started his fourth and final Channel called Style Theory, talking about clothing and other things about body hygiene, he would make the heartbreaking video stating that he would be retiring on March 9th, 2024. This would turn the internet into its frenzy of sadness for the Staple of YouTube was leaving and giving the channels to someone new.

The Hopeful Future 

Most fans probably hope to see Mat's son Oliver being the new Matpat when he's older. Someone Matpat to return in the near future, but like he said he’s not coming back to YouTube anytime soon. 

Like the great man once said, "it's just a theory."
