Respect the tools, the space, and each other.
The Right Tool: Only use tools you have been trained on. If you aren't sure how to use the button press or the leather stamps, Ask First.
Sharp Logic: Always cut away from your body. Pass scissors or craft knives handle-first to a peer.
Heat Check: Low-temp glue guns are still hot! Always place them back on the silicone mat or stand when not in your hand. Never leave a plugged-in tool unattended.
Eyes Up: Keep your hair tucked back and dangling hoodie strings out of the way when working with adhesives or paint.
Take What You Need: Materials are for everyone. Measure twice, cut once to avoid wasting fabric, yarn, or specialty paper.
Scrap Savvy: Before cutting into a brand-new sheet of felt or leather, check the "Scrap Bin" to see if a smaller piece will work.
Cap It: Always click markers shut and tighten glue lids. If it dries out, it’s a waste!
Clear the Surface: All scraps that are smaller than a post-it note go in the trash. Larger scraps go in their designated bins.
Tool Check-In: Return all tools (scissors, needles, stamps) to their exact "shadow" or labeled bin.
The "Crumb" Sweep: Use a hand brush (or a damp paper towel) to wipe away glitter, thread snippets, or paper punches.
WIP (Work In Progress): If you aren't finished, put your project in your labeled gallon bag and place it in the WIP Cubby. Never leave unfinished work on the tables.
The "Better Than You Found It" Rule: Look at your chair and floor. If you see a stray bead or a piece of tape, pick it up—even if it isn't yours.
Final Scan: Is the glue gun unplugged? Are the caps on the Sharpies?
"A Maker Space is only as good as the state it's left in for the next creator."
