Dear soon-to-be 1st year nursing associate student,
Congratulations on earning your place on the programme and welcome to Oxford Brookes University Swindon Campus!
As you look ahead to the next two years, we can assure you you’re at the start of quite the journey.
You will take lectures with lecturers who are active nurses today, experience learning in state-of-the-art facilities, form life-long friendships with your fellow
nursing associates, and graduate as a registered nurse associate with endless opportunities on your doorstep.
The course is challenging, and challenges us all in different ways. This reflects the career we are choosing, one that requires extensive knowledge and skills,
hard work, and dedication to do the best for our patients. Our education reflects this and is one part of what will make you into a great nurse associate. But you are not alone, look beside you for support. We, your fellow students, have been through similar journeys and are always happy to share our experiences and
offer advice and support. And beyond that, there is always support available from the teaching team and support services.
You have been chosen for this course because the faculty believe that you have what it takes to be a nurse associate of the future. So, remember to believe in
yourself too. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the people in your care. Hold on to those precious moments where you comfort a person, put a smile on their face, or help ease their pain. These moments are what make the hard work worth it.
Make the most of your time here because the time flies. Now begins your next big adventure!
Yours faithfully,
Swindon Nursing / Nurse Associate students
