This section provides information regarding timetabling for the BSc Adult Nursing course in Swindon 2021, the requirements for simulated learning and practice dress code guidance. Please see the individual tabs for more information.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) stipulates that students should undertake 2300 hours of Theory and 2300 hours of Practice. The programme is divided into weeks in University and weeks in practice , in addition to weeks of self directed study (SDS).
September 2020 saw the start of a new curriculum following a recent successful re-approval of our course by the NMC. In approving the curriculum the NMC offered two commendations, these being;
· Integration of service users especially in the Children’s programme
· For the way public health has been embedded into modules across the programme
Practice placement: During your course you will undertake 6 placement blocks, where you will be working in a variety of healthcare practice areas. During these times you will be expected to follow the shift patterns and lengths for the practice area that you are working in. This includes early shifts, late shifts, long shifts and night shifts. As a full time student you would be expected to undertake up to 37.5 hours of practice per week during placement block. This would be pro-rata'd for part time students.
