Volunteering at ASCO Campout
ASCO is a school parent-organized and led event, and its success relies on everyone contributing their time.
Cedar Ridge has employees who live on the grounds and shadow our event. As guests of the camp, we are expected to monitor our children, be dependable, respect shared spaces, and contribute around camp when needed. We fulfill this obligation through required volunteer shifts for every adult attendee.
Each adult is required to volunteer for two hours to help ensure a safe, fun, and well-run experience for over 500 participants. Volunteering roles are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis during registration. Only the remaining jobs available at the time of your registration will be listed, so early registration is encouraged to secure your preferred role.
There are a variety of roles to choose from, including assisting in the dining hall, overseeing sports or arts and crafts, managing parking, ensuring fire safety, monitoring activity areas like the river and wooded trails, or chaperoning evening mixers. Each role is essential to making the event a success.
By working together, we can create a safe and enjoyable weekend for all. Thank you for your dedication and support!
All volunteers are required to sign in at the Command Center 15 minutes before the start of their shift to collect their badge and detailed instructions for their role.
Make sure that adult attendees in your family sign up for jobs at different times to allow for supervision of children.
Below are the available roles and their descriptions. Each role contributes to ensuring a safe, fun, and seamless experience for everyone, click the links to view key responsibilities of each job.

Basically:
“They’re the vibe manager fr.”
They pull up with snacks, games, and music and make sure nobody ruins it. They handle the snack situation (no one’s hoarding, no one’s starving), keep the games moving so it doesn’t get boring, and control the aux so the playlist actually hits. If the music’s fire or goes hard, they let it play. If not, they switch it.
They don’t yap or act like a teacher. If you’re doing your thing, they’re like, “you’re good.” If something’s weird, they fix it low-key so it doesn’t turn into drama. If you suggest a game or song and it works? That’s a W.
They’re not trying to be cool — they’re just valid. High-key, if the vibes are good, they don’t mess with anything. They just let us chill, eat snacks, and hang out without parents hovering. If they weren’t there? It would fall apart. Bet.

The game room, located on the lower level of the dining hall, is a key part of the camp's scheduled activities. It operates only under the supervision of designated volunteers and remains closed when unattended.
