8th Grade
This course is an integrated unit of study that combines materials from four essential categories. The categories outlined in this course include matter and energy, force and motion, earth and space, and organisms and environments. Such topics will include properties of matter, chemical reactions, force, motion, Newton’s Laws, waves, characteristics of the universe, weather, natural events along with human impacts on ecosystems, and cellular organization. The newest Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills of 8th grade science that were adopted in 2021 will be addressed in the class.

The newest Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills of 8th grade science that were adopted in 2021 will be addressed in the class. The material is covered at a quicker pace and in greater depth and complexity. This course will require individual projects outside of class to reinforce topics covered throughout the academic year. This course is designed to be more rigorous and challenge the students' understanding of science.

Received credit for previous Science class with an average of 85 or higher for the year

7th Grade
This course includes the study of the scientific process, matter and solutions, inheritance and changes in populations, human body systems, matter and energy in ecosystems, human effects on water, force and motion, energy, plate tectonics and space. A major emphasis is placed on lab skills and the use of Scientific Methodology. Instruction covers all 7th grade Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills – developing skills and concepts for the depth of understanding.
This course involves the same content as seventh grade science. Concepts are extended through rigorous and extensive academic and lab activities. This is a project and research-based class with the involvement of independent study assignments. Project based learning is a core part of this class. Instruction covers all 7th grade Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills – developing skills and concepts for the depth of understanding.
