2019-20

An Unforgettable year

The 2020 year has been a prosperous year for the Brawley FFA. The year started with the annual officer retreat for the new officers where they worked on plans for the year and made memories. The officer team developed the theme of New Directions, emphasizing all the directions you can take in FFA. This year we did just that, guiding members into successful paths like new SAE projects, leadership building, conferences, and much more.

The chapter has taken part in many events including section events, SOCAL, ALA, and Speaking finals. This year, Kalin Morse, Ryan Dickerson, Luz Velarde Rios, and Daniela Olivarez will compete at Region Speaking Finals. For the first time, we received the Webpage Award placing 1st in the Southern Region and Top 6 in the state. Overall we had 40 members compete in LDES and CDEs. We also attended various trips such as IVROP Ag Summit and IVRC Tour. Student Advisor, Jessica Altamirano, spoke at the monthly School Board Meetings building a stronger connection with our school staff. Many chapter events were held including monthly meetings, 8th grade Tour, Mini Fair, and many more.

Brawley FFA Booster Club was formed and is now able to help members. They hosted a livestock show for FFA and 4H members. Also providing a scholarship for an FFA member to attend State Convention.

County Fair was a success with over 80 members showing 5 livestock species, welding, and craft projects- two members made it to Round Robbin. Top results were: Joseph Taylor - 1st Junior/Senior Showmanship, FFA Grand Champion Market Lamb, Res. Champion Breeder Ewe. Kalin Morse - Reserve Champion Market Lamb. John Cummings - Supreme Champion, FFA Grand Champion, 1st Junior/Senior Showmanship, and 6th Round Robin.

The 2019-20 Brawley FFA year is going great! Like all the years, we are so thankful for our members, parents, and community for everything they do. Not only is Brawley FFA a club, its a family!
