2018-2019

Take a look back into the past! Come on a journey and recap the year

The 2018-19 school year has been a successful and exciting year for the Brawley FFA Chapter. The year started with an officer retreat for the new officers where they bonded as a team, worked on leadership skills, plans for the year, and more. The first chapter events were freshman lunch and FFA Week, where new and current FFA members met and talked about plans for the year. This year, the FFA Chapter was able to build on their theme, Plowing Up Fields Of Opportunity. We accomplished so much and are beyond proud! Chapter members also got to participate in the planting and harvesting of the FFA onion field this year, which was very successful.

The chapter has competed in many different events including State Speaking finals, National FFA Convention, California FFA Convention, Competitions, field trips, and etc. This year, Kalin Morse placed Top 24 in the State, Ryan Dickerson 2nd Prepared at Region Finals, John Cummings and Luz Velarde are Top 18 in the Region Members.(This year 4 members made it to Region Speaking Finals and 1 to State Finals in Anaheim) Overall we had 33 members compete in LDES and CDEs. Also attended various trips such as IVROP Ag Summit and South Coast Research Center. Student Advisor, Wyatt Hensley, built a strong connection with our school staff. Many chapter-bonding events were held including monthly meetings, State Officer Visits, and many more.

County Fair was a success with over 100 members showing 5 different types of animals, photography, and food, two members made it to Round Robbin. Top results were: Joseph Taylor - 1st Freshman/Sophomore,1st Junior/Senior Showmanship,11th Round Robin and Res. Champion Breeder Ewe. Kayla Kemp - 2nd Novice and 6th Fresh/Soph Showmanship. John Cummings - Supreme Champion, FFA Champion, and 3rd Junior/Senior Showmanship.

Overall the 2018-19 Brawley FFA year was amazing!
