INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TECH AWARD

Course Overview / Introduction

For our IT course, you will be taught how and why to use a range of different technologies. You will learn what data and information are and the legal, ethical and moral considerations when using technology to gather, store and present data and information, along with how to mitigate the risks of cyber-attacks. 

You will learn about tools and techniques for use in different digital hardware and software technologies. Throughout the course theoretical knowledge is interleaved with building practical skills.

What will you study?

You will develop knowledge and understanding of different hardware and software applications and the tools and techniques used to select, store, manipulate and present data. You will also explore the various risks associated with the collection, storage and use of data, including legal, moral, ethical and security issues, and how such risks can be mitigated.

For the coursework element, you will create a technological solution that processes data and communicates information, following the phases of the project life cycle using different hardware and software technologies to create an integrated technological solution. You will develop practical skills such as carrying out a SWOT analysis, creating GANTT charts, developing online surveys, and presenting data through web-based technologies.
