Course Overview / Introduction

According to the British Hospitality Association, hospitality and catering is Britain’s fourth largest industry and accounts for around 10% of the total workforce. This varied and interesting course will give you an insight and understanding of this industry and give you the chance to be part of it if you wish in future.

The Hospitality and Catering (Tech Award) is a GCSE equivalent qualification. You will:

How many exams are there?

The course has been designed to develop your knowledge and understanding related to a range of hospitality and catering providers; how they operate; and what they have to take into account to be successful.

There is the opportunity to learn about issues related to nutrition and food safety and how they affect successful hospitality and catering operations.

What will you gain from this course?

In this qualification, you will have the opportunity to develop some food preparation and cooking skills as well as transferable skills of problem-solving, organisation and time management, planning and communication. Each unit will be assessed mainly on your practical work with written work to back it up.

What does this lead to?

Students who achieve this qualification could progress onto further Level 3 qualifications and A-Levels, such as:
