We will always have STEM with us. Some things will drop out of the public eye and go away, but there will always be science, engineering, and technology. And there will always, always be mathematics.
— Katherine Johnson, African-American mathematician
High School Graduation Requirements for Math: Six total semester credits of math are required for graduation, including at least 2 semesters of Geometry and Algebra. Please note that individual assignments and grading rubrics may change each semester. Students will be asked to meet the requirements for each class, during the semester they register for the class.
*New students will need to show Algebra readiness by submitting a placement test in order to register for their first math class. A variety of placement tests are available. Students may submit 8th grade ISAT scores, curriculum placement tests, (such as ALEKS progress report, Imagine Math report, Moby Max report, etc.)
Math Anchor courses all have similar structures. Students will either use Khan Academy or will select one of the approved alternate curriculums to learn from throughout their course.
Once a month, students will complete a "Problem of the Unit," which is a standards-aligned applied math problem.
At the end of each unit, students must submit proof of progress from their chosen learning resources. They must stay on pace according to the Syllabus for each course. This will be ALEKS pie charts, Khan Academy Stars, Gradebook from Teaching Textbooks, Mr. D, or CTC.
Consumer Math follows a different structure with specific assignments from the provided curriculum.

BYU Math Courses
Besides Anchor courses, students may choose to take a guided math course, overseen by an IHLA teacher and offered in the IHLA Schoology platform. These courses have a fee (for the 2025-2026) school year of $60. This is per course and is automatically deducted from Supplemental Learning Funds.
All BYU courses require students to take a proctored Final exam.
IDLA Classes
The IDLA website has a course catalog which can be searched by subject and grade level. IDLA offers Dual Credit classes as well as regular Math classes. IDLA courses usually take at least one hour per day on the computer in order for a student to be successful. IDLA classes generally have a $100 fee unless taken as an overload or a Dual Credit class.
