Daily Schedule

What can temporary home schooling look like for you?

"Classroom" set up

Try to find a dedicated space in your home or your child's bedroom for them to do "schoolwork." Having a clean area where your child can store all of his/her assignments, pencils, and crayons will help them to feel more like they are still "in school" and in Room 101. Also, try to make sure your child is doing his or her schoolwork in a quiet and calm space so they are not easily distracted. And hopefully, it will help them stay engaged in their schoolwork and learning.

Create a schedule

Keeping a consistent daily schedule will help your child remain focused during this uncertain period. A clear and consistent routine helps children to focus, give them a sense of security, and build their confidence and independence. While I create detailed schedules for the classroom, I also have to be flexible and okay with not always doing everything on the schedule.

Schooling at home should be consistent with routines in place, but it should also be very flexible. Things "pop up" at home, especially when adults have adult work/home responsibilities on top of supporting their child learn. Take a deep breath, make a plan, and go with the flow!
