Lower Kilmer Artists:
WEEK 11 (6/8)
Time to FINISH any work. Make sure to show me the exhibit you created, and submit your artist statement. Directions are below.
Close to the end. Go ahead and take two weeks for this. The first and second steps are for the week of June 1st. The third step is for the week of June 8th. In the end, you'll have a whole art exhibit for your graduation from this year!
EVERYONE:
You've been working hard, creating the most amazing portfolio during this crazy time. We started by creating a work space, compiling non traditional materials to cut, draw, and paint with. We have made 2D work and 3D work. Now we need to start thinking about that important part of your work, how you present and talk about it.
First: watch this video:
Second: create an exhibit. Think about if you can create a frame. What materials do you need to do that.
Then, you can hang your work in your home, in your front windows, on a website. Who are you trying to reach when you hang the work? Family, friends, neighbors?
Third: either write about one piece of artwork, or record yourself giving a talk about your work. Attached are a list, by grade level, of artist statement graphic organizers. Use the one that is appropriate for you.
Kindergarten/1st Grade Artist Statement
Finally: Upload your gallery, writing/talk to Dojo.
Coming Soon: Analyzing Ms. Z. What do you think of your art class this year???
Today's Fun:

2nd Grade Week 4 Lesson: Going through old magazines and catalogs, create piles of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Using this new rainbow of found colors, create something new. This will be a two week assignment. Check with me during office hours if you need help. See the examples below:

Saving to reference on Thursday:
3rd Grade, Week 4 Lesson: Create a layered landscape in 3D.
I mentioned this in our DoJo (which crashed due to the technology in my house.) In case you missed it, I showed several pop-up books. You could create this assignment using an old book, a box, or a new pop-up. Look at these examples, then create a background, middle-ground, and foreground. This will be a two week assignment. Check with me during office hours if you need clarification.
This can be made in ANY way, but here are some various examples to help:

Hi students and families!
Each weekday I have been posting a link to an at-home art lesson. These are a combination of online resources from other artists and educators, as well as original art lessons. These lessons will be appropriate for students in 4th through 8th grade (as well as older and younger if you have people at home that want to join in the fun). I will be doing these lessons along with my own two daughters (4th and 7th grade) to make sure we are taking time in the day to be creative...always an important thing but especially important in times of worry. Art is a wonderful way to express your creative side, reduce stress, and get in touch with your feelings. And of course we all know it is FUN!
Please reach out to me with any questions, ideas, or just to say hi. I am available by email or join me on Thursdays from 10am to 11am during my Zoom office hours to ask questions and/or share artwork.
