7th Grade

We will begin our new novel of Scorpions. Students were given copies on Monday and I have also posted the PDF version on Google Classroom. The work will be posted daily along with the chapters assigned. Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. sweidert@bostonpublicschools.org

The question was asked if I could activate the chat feature again on Google Classroom as a way for students to engage with the work. I will turn it on, but please use only for classroom discussions so we do not all get lost in the feed. :)

Please try to keep up with your work. I will be monitoring/checking/grading the work from the previous day.

We will begin our new unit on Linear Relationships.

I will post what problem set we are working on and any related websites that could help support the work.

I will create ONE document for each student that will house all their work. Math builds off of each problem set so it is helpful for students to constantly look back at what they did the previous day. Essentially, it will be a "virtual notebook".

Remember there a lot of videos on Khan Academy if you are ever stuck on a concept. I am also available to support you as we move our classroom online.

Zoom Classes Monday and Wednesday @ 11 am. Participation in Zoom classes counts towards your grade.

Clever/Google Classroom:

• All 7th graders should join the class with the following code: wp2frt7

• Students will take pictures of their work to submit by the deadline THROUGH google classroom. Do not email me pictures! Late submissions must be approved by me.

• PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, if you are able, download a scanner app for your phone which will allow you to make multi-page pdf documents out of your pictures instead of uploading several pictures. I recommend Genius Scan - it's free to email to yourself, and then you can upload to the google classroom assignment.

• Office hours: Look for signups for office hours Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursday.

Every week I'll be posting assignments on google classroom. Considering using Skype or some kind of video media in the not-too-distant future.

Social Studies: We will continue to learn about the Ancient Greeks and possibly wrap up our unit on ancient Greece and move on to ancient Rome.

-You can answer and email to me your answers on a separate document. if you prefer hardcopy, you may use the Genius scan that Mr. Mook is recommending .

-It looks like we will have a major assessment on Ancient Greece. I'll be sure to post a study guide and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Online games/resources:

-Considering using Skype or some other media for certain lessons and assignments.

-I'll be sure to set aside a time, between 6-8, Monday-Friday were you may ask me questions regarding either the reading, an assignment or a time for a lesson.
