The end of a school term can be incredibly stressful! While it is important to take care of ourselves year round, here are some tips + tricks to help navigate the stress that arises before a big exam:
Create a homework or study schedule and hold yourself to it.
Incorporate breaks into your study schedule. Our brains and our bodies need breaks!
Aim to get 8-10 hours of sleep per night.
Doing exercises like walking, going to the gym, or doing yoga can make your body release feel-good chemicals called endorphins. These can make you feel happy, help you focus better, and reduce stress.
Choose an activity you like and do it a few times each week before finals.
Use your phone or calendar to set a reminder!
Research shows that what you eat can impact your academic performance. Better nutrition is associated with improvements in staying on task and exam performance.
It's important not to miss meals and to aim for a balanced diet with fruits, veggies, and proteins at each meal, and try to cut back on sugars.
Try to eat a nutritious breakfast the morning of your big exam!
