LCA Drop-In Trainings

Does your department need a specialized training that is not currently offered through LCA's drop-in trainings? Fill out our LCA Training Request Form and book your personalized training. You can book a session that focuses on one of our existing training topics (listed below), or we can create a completely new, customized training that is tailored to your needs.
Here is a list of training topics that we currently offer:
LCA 101 TRAINING:
LCA 101 provides training on the following topics: 1) defining language and communications access, 2) the role of LCA, 3) best practices around accessibility for people who speak languages other than English (LOTE) and people with disabilities, 4) how to acquire on-demand interpretation services (meaning on short notice) to effectively communicate with constituents who are LOTE or use sign language, and 5) how to acquire accommodations in advance (including for pre-planned meetings and events).
ON-DEMAND INTERPRETATION TRAINING:
This training instructs staff on the process for procuring interpretation when a resident calls in or walks in unexpectedly and requires spoken language interpretation or sign language interpretation. Attendees learn how to use Lionbridge (our provider for on-demand interpretation) to place audio calls and video calls with a live interpreter.
ACCESSIBLE IN-PERSON EVENTS TRAINING:
Accessible In-Person Events Trainings guide City staff on planning and implementing in-person events and programming that are accessible to constituents who speak languages other than English and/or who have disabilities.
