To be eligible to enroll a student using an employment address, at least one person who holds educational rights for the student must be employed within the physical boundaries of the Bonita Unified School District and work not less than 10 hours weekly at the location within the boundaries of the district.
Per California Education Code 48204(b)(4), the district may deny enrollment under the Allen Bill if the district determines that the additional cost of educating the student will exceed the amount of additional state aid received as a result of the transfer. In addition, under District Administrative Regulation 5111.1, denial of enrollment under an Allen Bill may occur in cases of overcrowding of school facilities at the relevant grade level.
(For grade 3, 4 and 5 permits - see important information below)
All BUSD elementary schools are expecting grade 3, 4 and 5 classes to reach capacity levels. In order to guarantee placement for resident students, decisions on permit applications (inter-district and Allen Bill) for grade 4 and 5 students may not be reached until August 15, 2025, upon which families will be notified. Therefore, make certain your student(s) is enrolled in your district of residence in the case Bonita Unified is unable to accommodate your request for permit as space for permits will be very limited.
NOTE: The steps below are needed for the first time a family requests enrollment using an employer's address. If you have a returning student who is already attending under Allen Bill, you will be asked to update your employment information before the start of each new school year.
