The PSAT/NMSQT is a test of the skills and knowledge essential for college and career that students are learning in class. The PSAT/NMSQT is an important step in your child’s journey to college. The test offers students the opportunity to connect with colleges and universities, enter scholarship competitions, get ready for the SAT® and college, sharpen their skills with free practice on Khan Academy®, and learn what AP® classes might make the most of their strengths. It’s a wonderful chance for our sophomores and juniors to be recognized and rewarded for the skills and knowledge they’ve earned.
The cost of the test is $20 payable by cash or check (made out to GSHS). Sign up in the office with Cat Sample or Paige White.
The PSAT/NMSQT is now DIGITAL! This means that the test will be taken entirely on school-owned Chromebooks. This new format is easier, shorter, allows more time per question, and comes with a built-in calculator. If you are a Junior it also qualifies you for the National Merit Scholarship Program and other scholarships.
FREE PRACTICE EXAM & STUDY MATERIALS:
Additional practice and study materials can be found online at https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt/preparing
Remember that as Sophomores and Juniors you should be signing up to take the PSAT - which is given in October at our school every year.
As Seniors you can take the test through the December test date. Most Colleges and Universities will not accept any scores after the December test date (for Seniors). The SAT and ACT are not admissions requirements for the CSU and UC Systems for the 26-27 applicants. Check on out of state and private universities websites to see if the Sat/ACT is required.
