Elect a Committee Chair
- The Chair is responsible for calling meetings, setting them up, and organizing an agenda.
- When calling the meeting, explain its purpose and what is to be accomplished.
- Use committees. Delegate responsibility and work to smaller groups. If you are the chair of a committee, break up the work among the members.
Elect a Secretary
- The Secretary is responsible for keeping minutes of the meeting.
Review Committee’s Purpose, Responsibilities, and Previous Year’s Action Items
- The Chair should orient new members to the committee’s purpose, named responsibilities, and general expectations for committee members.
- The committee should review the previous year’s action items and establish action items for the coming year.
- Determine when electronic meetings are appropriate (see suggestions below).
