Our group wrote a Boise Brave Parent grant and received funding commission student artists to create murals based on student interests. Our team surveyed students involved in our various school clubs and electives to share ideas about what their interests are and what participating in these activities mean to them. We paired these ideas with student artists, who will use them to inform their creative process as they pain their murals.
This project will be ongoing through this year and the next. Our first round of murals are in the final stages of completion.
Sometimes, we all need a bit of mental health support. But sometimes it can be hard to ask for support in a public setting. So, in a collaborative project, between our Hope Squad and Boise High's SAGA (and made possible by a grant from the It's Get's Better Project), we have created Self-Care Take Home Kits. These kits contain items and resources for some self care away from school. Kits are themed based on the type of self care an individual feels works best for them, and all contain referrals to additional resources for mental health support. The kits can be found in various locations around the school, so that students can discreetly take them.
Each kit comes in a reusable bad and includes:
Mini journal
Pen
2 coloring bookmarks
Small pack of crayons
Handwritten affirmation card
Thoughtfulness pop card
Positive vibe stickers
Meditation card
Herbal tea
Fidget popper
Worry Stone
