Hope Squad members spent time planning a float that promoted the mission and messages that define our mission here at Boise High. They hand wrote positive affirmations on beach balls, throwing those - and candy, of course - to the crowds.
One of our Hope Squad goals is to build authentic connections with all of our community members, staff included. Hope Squad aims to show the teachers at Boise High that we see them and appreciate all the work they do and private funds they are willing to use on behalf of student learning. To that end, we are helping staff build Amazon Wishlists for their classroom needs. This way, if families wish to show their appreciation for their student's teachers this season in the form of a gift or contribution, they can simply consult a teacher's Wishlist to do so.
We are also encouraging students and families to show their appreciation for teachers by writing small notes of gratitude that show how much we see and appreciate all the work they do on behalf of students.
Part of our Hope Week series of events, the scavenger hunt was created to help students recognize other students and staff for their acts of kindness - both small and large. Participants were placed into a drawing for prizes of Boise High Swag.
Another event that was part of Hope Week, the Boise High Hope Squad asked students to help them "attack" school staff with hearts. As part of this activity, Hope Squaders cut nearly 1,600 hearts, distributed them to students, and asked students show love for the staff by filling the hearts with notes of appreciation. The members of Hope Squad then collected all the hearts and sorted them into 110 separate bags. Finally, the "Heart Attacks" to each staff member so they would know just how important they are to our students and school community.
