The Technology 8 course offers a dynamic exploration of technological innovation, focusing on traditional woodworking, technical drawing, CAD, 3D printing, and robotics. Students will engage in hands-on activities to develop practical skills and creative problem-solving abilities. They will start by mastering fundamental concepts such as measurement and hand tool safety, progressing to more advanced topics like technical drawings and CAD design. Throughout the course, students will apply these skills to various projects, including building an air glider, creating technical drawings, and designing and constructing a dragster or other wood working project.
In addition to the technical aspects, the course emphasizes critical thinking and collaboration. Students will learn the design process, from brainstorming and sketching to prototyping and testing. They will also explore the principles of robotics through the VEX IQ platform, gaining experience in building and programming robots. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in technology and engineering, preparing them for future STEAM courses and equipping them with valuable skills for the modern world.
