Jennifer Auguste is a 16-year Junior who attends Bloomfield High School. This is her first year taking journalism and can’t wait for many more. Jennifer was born in Newark, New Jersey and was raised in East Orange for 15 years before moving to Bloomfield, New Jersey. She is a hard working student who always strives for excellence and approaches every challenge with determination. Some of her favorite things to do are reading, writing, watching movies, cheerleading, hanging out with friends, and going on walks. Jennifer prefers to work alone, finding that she can fully concentrate on what needs to be done without any distractions. Her dream is to become a certified Ultrasound Technician. She plans to attend Penn State University.
Rianna Ayala is a 15 year-old who attends Bloomfield High School as a sophomore. She moved to Bloomfield from Belleville in 7th grade. Rianna likes to sleep, listen to music, take walks with her dog, and read. Her favorite book that she’s read so far is called Madness by Shantel Tessier from the L.O.R.D.S. series. Some of her interests include: cars, politics, music (specifically rock/grunge). She is Dominican and has lived in Newark, Belleville and Bloomfield. When Rianna gets older, she wants to study criminology, medical sonography, forensics, and or psychology mainly. Some words or ways to describe her are: blunt, brutally honest, humorous, dependable, and outspoken. Some things Rianna dislikes or can’t stand are, people who can’t or never see another perspective or side, overly rude people, probably people in general, insects, and reptiles.
Melina (Mina) Coronel is a 17-year-old senior at Bloomfield High School, wrapping up her first and last year in journalism. She’s proud of her Ecuadorian and Dominican roots and loves celebrating her culture whenever she can. At school, Mina is an active member of the marching band, where she plays the mellophone, and she also plays French horn in the wind ensemble. Music plays a big role in her life, both in and out of school—she’s always listening to artists like Enhypen, Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, SZA, Steve Lacy, and many more. When she’s not busy with school or band, Mina enjoys catching up on sleep, eating good food at work, and just enjoying life. After high school, she’s excited to head to college to study biomedical sciences and work toward becoming a Physician Assistant specializing in psychiatry. Her goal is to support people’s mental health and make a difference in their lives.
Sophia Curtinez is a Senior here at Bloomfield High School. This is her second year writing for the school newspaper. She is of Mexican and Bolivian descent and enjoys spending time with her family. She also loves staying home with her pets, taking a stroll in the city, going to different concerts, and dyeing her hair various colors. Some of her favorite artists are Kali Uchis, Amy Winehouse, and Lady Gaga. Some of her favorite shows and movies consist of Rupaul’s Drag Race, Arcane, Steven Universe, and Project X. She hopes to attend college in New York and study media marketing/PR. She also hopes to make her mark on the world through social media and make sure to use her platform to spread awareness and give a voice to those who need it.
Adam Desir is a seventeen year old Senior at Bloomfield High School. This is his second year in Journalism writing for The Student Prints.
Bethany is a confident and ambitious senior in high school with a deep passion for creative expression. Whether through words or style, she finds joy in using her voice to inspire others. Writing has always been one of her strongest outlets, allowing her to craft storires and reflections that speak to the importance of empathy and understanding. Recently she is starting to get back into fashion and hopes to gain the skill of sewing as she is equally drawn to the world of fashion and sees clothes as another form of self-expression. She is known for being compassionate and supportive and strives to encourage others around her to reach their full potential. She values building connections, uplifting others, and creating spaces where people feel heard and appreciated. As she prepares for her life after high school, she hopes to combine her passions for writing and fashion. Until then you’ll find her filling her notes app with ideas, searching for inspiration in the latest trends, and reminding everyone around her that confidence is key. With her ambition and supportive spirit, Bethany is eager to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, ready to leave her mark on the world.
Alani Garcia is a 17 year old student at Bloomfield High School. She is on the Student Prints for her first and final year. Alani advocates for the LGBTQ+ community and for mental health awareness, these are causes that are important to her. She has many passions and interests that shape who she is. She loves music and finds comfort in writing, where she is able to express her creativity and emotions. She also enjoys true crime and horror movies. Her favorite color is sage green, and her favorite book is Play It As It Lays by Joan Didion. In the future, Alani dreams to pursue multiple paths even if it seems unrealistic. She dreams of becoming a nurse, with a focus on either the NICU or the emergency room, while also exploring business through owning her own bakery. She is also interested in traveling the world and pursuing journalism, especially about culture as a side job. Alani believes in quality over quantity and views each day as a step closer to her goals. She hopes to make the best out of her year on Student Prints and carry the lessons she learns with her into the future.
Michelle Garcia is a 17-year-old student in Bloomfield High School. This is her final year at BHS, which makes her a senior. She would prefer to stay home and work to build her savings account. Staying home allows her to focus without any distractions and be in a comfortable environment. She loves listening to music, specifically rap and pop. These include artists such as NBA Youngboy, Uzi, and Romeo Santos. She works at CVS, which is a fast-paced and mainly customer-focused job, usually very busy. Reading and writing are one of her main strengths and are the most enjoyable things she likes about school. She loves her cats, Mew and Maki, they bring joy to her days, good or bad. Being with her friends at school makes the day better and way faster. This is her first year in journalism, and she is looking forward to writing for The Student Prints.
Sophia Grimaldi is 17 years old and currently a senior at Bloomfield High School. This is Sophia’s first and last year of journalism. After high school she plans on going to college majoring in Political Science and minoring in Journalism. In the future she wants to pursue Political Journalism and Diplomacy. She is an AP student and has participated in various clubs and organizations at school including Unified Sports, Mock Trial, Leadership, Red Cross, and Ski Club. Her birthday is May 7, 2008 and she is a Taurus. She is also Slovakian, Italian, and Dutch. Her favorite subjects at school include US History and Comparative Government. Three adjectives to describe her would be creative, conscientious, and determined. Some of her interests include skiing, writing, hiking, and hanging out with her friends. She hopes to make the best out of her year on Student Prints.
Luke Hark is a 16 year old junior student at Bloomfield High School. This is Luke's first year taking journalism. Luke has one sibling, a twin sister named Lily. He lives with his mom and twin sister as well as two cats. He loves to play video games, bike riding, walking during the sunset, and listening to music. Luke loves 60s rock music, for example he loves The Beatles, The Monkees, The Doors, and many more. His favorite song is While my Guitar Gently Weeps by The Beatles. Luke used to play soccer from age 7 all the way to his sophomore year. His former position in soccer was being the goalkeeper, he played for the freshman team during his freshman year of high school and played junior varsity through his sophomore year of high school. Luke has quit sports to focus on a new career path in which he wants to pursue in the near future which is playing the drums. Luke had recently been learning the drums and has been really focused and enjoys learning to play the drums. He was inspired by the Beatles drummer known as Ringo Starr to play the drums. He hopes to be in a band or play in major events or even drum for famous artists in the music industry. Luke is only a junior in high school but even still college is a priority now. Luke hopes to attend St. Bonaventure University, the same university his mother attended. Luke´s dream is to become a drummer for a band and travel around the world. While that is Luke's dream he also hopes to get to learn new cultures all around the world.
Ti’Annah Holder is a seventeen-year-old senior at Bloomfield High School with a distinctive style, favoring red, black, and white. Passionate about turtles and flamingos, she finds inspiration for her writing in her favorite movies, “The Book of Life” and “Strange Magic.” Ti’Annah has a particular fondness for the night, appreciating its calmness and mystery. However, she has an unusual fear of balloons, which she finds quite unsettling. Looking beyond high school, Ti’Annah aspires to pursue a career in journalism, though being a marine biologist lingers in her mind. Her dream is fueled by her deep curiosity and desire to explore the world. This blend of diverse interests and clear ambitions shapes her into a dynamic, future-focused individual, ready to make her mark. Her enthusiasm for storytelling, combined with her unique passions, sets her apart and prepares her for the challenges and adventures that lie ahead, waiting for her to reach her full potential.
At 17 years old, Alicia is a young person driven by ambition, resilience, and passion. Growing up in a tough household taught her strength and independence, shaping the determination she carries into everything she does. A natural athlete, she plays both basketball and flag football, enjoying the teamwork, discipline, and focus that comes with the game. Off the court and field, Alicia finds comfort in the simple things like her love for music and her go to favorite, a bacon, egg, and cheese. Alicia describes herself as highly motivated, especially when it comes to her vision of success. With a gift for words and a heart that values love deeply, she dreams of pursuing a career in psychology, where she hopes to help others by listening, understanding, and offering guidance. While she works hard, she also treasures taking naps, which is one of her favorite escapes and hanging out with all 13 of her dogs. Balancing athletic energy, thoughtful reflection, and a drive to achieve, Alicia embodies both strength and softness, always striving to grow while holding on to the things that keep her grounded.
Caley Muniz is a sixteen-year old Junior at Bloomfield High School. She is a punctual person who is always committed to prioritizing schoolwork no matter how difficult it might be. She loves to write. Whether it is a poem or short story; she finds passion in whatever forms of literature. She also adores listening to music as she writes. Her favorite artists include: The Beatles, Mitski, Fiona Apple, and TV Girl. Caley loves her friends and spends her time with them when she can. She takes pride in her discovery of finding a great, sustainable friend group outside of school that supports her in all her journeys. Alongside those things, she can be very shy but also very outgoing, yet still open to making new friends! When Caley graduates, she wants to attend Syracuse and major in Film and Television. Then after college, she aspires to settle in Upstate New York and hopefully create something with her degree, like a short film or television show. In her Junior year, she hopes she can find herself to be more involved in school activities and extracurriculars.
Olivia Muniz is a Senior at Bloomfield High School. Her friends describe her as kind, sensitive and stubborn. Despite struggling with school her entire life, Olivia has maintained her grades and excelled in her classes. During the summer of 2023, she had her first job. She loved getting the experience and learning about entrepreneurship. Olivia is extremely quiet in class, but once you get to know her, she is funny and expressive. She loves to express herself whether it is through piercings, hair dye, makeup, or music and clothing. Olivia spends most of her time at home playing video games, watching youtube videos, and calling her close friends. She has a twin sibling named Ollie, two tuxedo cats named Pluto (boy) and Neptune (girl) from the same litter, and a mini Australian shepherd named Oakley. The biggest thing she is looking forward to this year is graduation and getting her drivers license. Olivia is ready to be the best person she can be starting with her senior year.
Trey O’Rourke is a seventeen year old senior attending Bloomfield High School. He’s been writing since he was in first grade and has always been a creative person. This is his first and last year of Journalism. Although his experience with writing is mostly from making creative stories, he’s interested in what new experiences Journalism will bring. He was born in New Jersey and has lived in the town of Bloomfield his whole life, having attended Demarest Elementary School as a kid. He’s very interested in social activism and tends to incorporate themes and messages regarding it into his writing. He is taking Criminal & Social Justice this year as an elective, and hopes this will help him with writing articles. He is a quiet person who doesn’t talk much, but loves to write and finds communicating through it to be easier. Alongside writing, he also enjoys reading and watching movies. His favorite genres are murder mysteries and slasher horror. He has a particular interest in horror movies from the eighties, such as The Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween. His favorite book is One Of Us is Lying by Karen McManus.
Destiny Rambaran is a 17-year-old senior at Bloomfield High School. This is her second year in Journalism. She attends Black Student Union meetings. She is a proud Jamaican. Destiny enjoys baking, listening to music, drawing, watching tv, and hanging out with friends. She has 8 siblings, along with many cousins. In the future, Destiny hopes to attend nursing school and achieve her Bachelor's in Nursing.
Sevanjali Ramdehal is a seventeen year old student attending Bloomfield High School. She is in her Senior year. This year is her first and last year of journalism. Sevanjali does take an interest in writing, but she is more intrigued in criminal justice and the way of law. She was born and raised in New Jersey, now living in Bloomfield. Her family is from the only English speaking country in South America, Guyana. Sevanjali enjoys listening to all kinds of music except country music. Enjoying all genres, her favorite band is The Arctic Monkeys. She enjoys Marvel and DC, several different movie genres, and learning about different things. Her main hobby is aquascaping. This hobby consists of large fish tanks, creating ecosystems for these little creatures to live and thrive inside of. She also does dog grooming and has a dog and three cats.
Yasmin Seepaul is a 16-year-old junior at Bloomfield High School. Yasmin was born and raised in Bloomfield, NJ. She loves to travel all around the world; if you were to ask her on vacation, she would automatically say yes. Her birthday is September 18th, and she’s a Virgo. Many say her attitude shows it. This is her first year taking journalism, and she couldn’t be happier. She loves her Guyanese culture and community and is always ready to share it with others. Yasmin is the only child, but the youngest of her family. She enjoys listening to dancehall and soca music, which is what she grew up listening to. Her favorite color is pink, and she absolutely loves anything cheetah print. Yasmin recently joined the tennis team at BHS and didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as she does. She is also the basketball book manager for the Varsity and JV girls’ teams. In her spare time, shopping online or in-store is what you’ll find her doing. She hopes to have her own business someday and be her own boss!
Nabid Sharif is a Muslim, Bangladeshi 17 year old Senior at Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, New Jersey. This is his second year in journalism. He is also the youngest of 4 children. His favorite day of the week is Friday, the most hated day of the week to him is Sunday. The things that interest him are reading and studying theological and philosophical works, as well as hanging out with his friends. He speaks 2 languages, English being the most fluent language that he knows. He would rather be outside doing whatever, rather than being in school reading about things that do not interest him. He currently lives in Bloomfield, New Jersey, United States of America but plans to move to Madinah in Saudi Arabia, if he is not able to then he will move to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates if he is able to.
Fhernando Simone is an 18 year old senior in Bloomfield High School, coming from Paterson. His family is predominantly Spanish (Including himself). He loves to play sports and video games. He has 1 brother and his family lives alongside 1 big cat. He vsited Mexico twice in the past with his family, and went to Florida over a summer break in middle school. He's passionate about working with computers, in fact, he plans on majoring it over the course of his college education, and he currently works at Kung Fu Tea. His hobbies include (but not limited to), cooking, sports, exercising, programming, baking, and listening to music. He listens to lots of rock and alt music, feel free to ask for some suggestions. His favorite season is winter, but he loves a good swim in the summer too! Fhernando is grateful for the amazing family he has and the opportunities in his life.
Sarah is 17 years old and a Senior at Bloomfield High School. Her hobbies are reading, writing, listening to music, and various forms of art. She listens to lots of 90s music and you’ll never find her without at least one earbud in. Her favorite artists are Nine Inch Nails, Godsmack, and Fiona Apple. She also loves movies, her favorites being Black Swan and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It’s her first year in journalism and she hopes to write about her various passions and interests, and learn about things she’s always wanted to research. She has a very beloved tuxedo cat named Casper that she adores. After high school she plans to go into nursing with a focus in women’s health or labor and delivery. She is very passionate about feminism and enjoys reading feminist essays and memoirs, with a favorite being the book, My body by Emily Ratajkowski.
Terrence Taylor is a 17 year old Senior. This is his first and final year taking journalism class. He is a varsity athlete for the Bloomfield Bengals High School wrestling team. He was born in Livingston, but raised in Newark and Bloomfield. Originally he went to DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne, NJ, but he ultimately transfered to Bloomfield High School. He hopes to go into the medical field as a physical therapist when he is older. He likes to write stories and watch many romance and comedy movies/shows during his free time. His favorite movie at the moment is “My Oxford Year” and his favorite tv show is Heartstopper. His favorite song is Beaches by Beabadoobee, although his favorite band is TLC and he is very big on old school RnB. His dream College is Cincinnati University in Ohio.
Lilah is a seventeen year old senior at Bloomfield High School. This is her second and last year of Journalism. She is excited to start writing again. She has developed a love for writing, along with a passion for history and politics. She is a part of her school's Madrigals and Choir. She enjoys playing the guitar in her spare time and is a beginner. Music has always been an important part of her life. Her favorite artists are, Lucy Dacus, The 1975, Sixpence None the Richer, Lorde, David Bowie, Cocteau Twins, and Boygenuis. She has aspirations of becoming a director and hopes to start directing this year. She is excited to start her senior year, and hopes to live in the moment as much as she can. She was born and raised in Bloomfield, New Jersey, and has plans to travel all over the world when she is older.
Emma Waldron is a 16 year-old junior. Emma was born in Bloomfield ,NJ, and can't wait to graduate to get out and travel the world. Emma is a very dramatic, outgoing, and determined person. Emma enjoys hanging out with her friends, going to the beach, shopping, snowboarding, and writing. Emma's passion for writing started in fourth grade when she won the Christopher Columbus essay contest. Emma is involved with cheer, she has been doing cheer since she was around the age of 5. Emma hopes to graduate from the University of Tampa and live in Southern California, have a stable job in journalism, and drive a 911 Carrera Cabriolet.
