Course Content
IGCSE History is a 2-year course with the final examinations taking place at the end of the second year. The students are invited to study:
The Treaty of Versailles
The League of Nations
The Collapse of International Peace
The Origins of the Cold War
The United Nations
Weimar Germany
Nazi Germany OR Russia 1905-1953
How successfully did the US Contain Communism? (Korea, Cuba and Vietnam)
The Collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe by 1990
This History syllabus offers students the opportunity to study some of the major international issues of the 20th century, as well as looking in greater depth at the history of a particular region or regions. The emphasis within the syllabus is as much on developing lifelong historical skills as on acquiring knowledge.

Examination Paper 1 : 40% Essays
2 Hours
Examination Paper 2 : 30% sources
1 Hour 45 minutes
Coursework or Paper 4 : 30%
One piece of extended writing based on a Depth Study – 2000 words or Examination Paper 4

Careers
History is unique because the subject provides an attractive platform for the pursuit of most, if not all, careers. The subject dovetails well with careers in Law, Journalism, and International Relations. However, many historians go into jobs in Finance and Banking due to the rigorously academic nature of the subject.
