This is a two year linear course with two final examinations in Year 11. There are two tiers; Higher tier which allows students to access grades 4 - 9 and Foundation tier which allows students to access grades 1 - 5.

Key Skills
The course follows the National Curriculum programme of study for Mathematics. Students are expected to have a scientific calculator for use in lessons and in the examinations.

The aims and objectives of the Pearson Edexcel Level 1/Level 2 GCSE (9 – 1) 1MA1 in Mathematics are to enable students to:

Reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences, and draw conclusions
Comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context.
