6th grade
Welcome to middle school sixth graders!
Some of the new Horizon 6th graders shared their thoughts about starting middle school through surveys and interviews. The survey showed that 43.4% of sixth graders were excited about coming into middle school, but 19.8% were nervous about coming to middle school. The other responses were mixed emotions. Although a majority of sixth graders said on the survey that one thing they miss about elementary is recess.
The first 6th grader interviewed was Adeline Reis.
She was interviewed about what her thoughts were about middle school and she said,“I really like it because you can walk around a lot more but you don't get to see your friends as often.” The second question asked was "what was the hardest part of middle school so far? " and she commented back saying “figuring out where you need to go and where your classes are.” And the last question she was asked was “do you like having lockers? Why or why not?” and she responded with, “I do because it separates your stuff from everyone else so you know no one can steal your stuff.”
The next 6th grader interviewed was Jaxton Romsaas Salz.
The first question he was asked was “What are your thoughts about middle school so far?” He responded with, “It's good, all the classes and teachers are good and everyone is really friendly here.” Next he was asked “Do you like having lockers? Why or why not?” He said, “I do because they're a lot safer than the cubbies in elementary school.” And the last question asked was “What was a fear you had coming into middle school?” He commented back with, “Not getting my locker open and then being late to class.”
So overall a majority of sixth graders were ready to come into a new school and are ready for a fantastic year at Horizon Middle School and many more to come!
